Ka Chi - Cheap Korean restaurant in downtown

By kat in

Time to post up the rest of my Toronto reviews! And then vacation pictures. Promise.

Right after my last exam, I went to Ka Chi with some friends from EAS101 to celebrate the finale of the school year. There are 2 locations of Ka Chi, both in downtown Toronto. The one we went to is located on St Andrew St, a small road branching off from Spadina Ave. Chinatown, in between College St and Dundas St West.

The menu consists of many types of tofu stew, hot stone pot bibimbaps etc. All affordable prices of around $6.99 - $9.99.

And of course, complimentary side dishes! From left to right: bean sprouts, potatoes, spicy cucumber, kimchi, sweet potato vermicelli (japchae), and thick sea weed. Too bad I much prefer the potatoes from Joon's or Nak Won.

Gamjatang (pork bone soup). You get around 3 bones of tender meat and lots of bean sprouts on top.

I think this was Kara's fish stew. Spicy.

And I think this was Connie's beef stew.

Lastly, my soon tofu stew, mild spicy. Which to me was regular spicy because it left a stinging spicy feeling on my mouth just after one sip of the soup. Renee ended up helping me ask the waiter to add water to the stew to dilute the taste. So spicy!!

If you're feeling for Korean while walking down Chinatown (like we were), Ka Chi is a good choice. Cheap and filling food. I always feel bloated after Korean cuisine.
